Care Instructions

The warranty is based on the following advice being observed.

To ensure lifetimes of pleasure from your jewellery bare the following in mind......

  • The more you wear it, the more weathered it will become. If you prefer the cleaner look, wear it sparingly.
  • The more manual work and chores you do with your jewellery on (especially rings) the more likely you are to damage (or loose) them.
  • Avoid bathing, showering, swimming, sports, partying, or clubbing with our heavier jewellery. All jewellery, especially larger pieces, can fall off a wet or sweaty body very easily.
  • Avoid wearing your jewellery anywhere where there is sulphur, like a hot spring, as it can heavily tarnish the metals and corrode some stones.
  • Avoid wearing your jewellery anywhere there is chlorine or ammonia as they are not good for the stones & will tarnish the metals.
  • Avoid the use of any detergents or harsh chemicals.
  • Do not leave in direct sunlight. The piece may become very hot & some stones can alter with too much heat or light.

Gold plate is not adversely affected by normal cleaning procedures (see below) but bear the following in mind;

  • Being over-abrasive or applying too much pressure when cleaning will thin the plate.
  • Avoid the use of corrosive dips always, but especially on gold-plated pieces.
  • Ultrasonic and ionic cleaning is fine for gold-plate but as always, do not allow your piece to touch others to avoid vibration marks. See the notes on Ultrasonic cleaning below.

Gold plated rings can not be resized by conventional means because;

  • Stretching will leave cracks and weaknesses in the gold-plate.
  • Cutting and soldering requires heat that will melt away the gold into the silver base.
  • Repolishing using a machine over gold plate will polish it away.

Although unlikely, should any problems arise after the warranty period has finished, many solutions are covered in the Jewellery Care section.

We recommend that all repairs and alterations after the warranty period has elapsed are done by a professional jeweller who understands the nature of semi-precious stones.
