Sean and Wendy Mahoney have been working the gemstone & jewellery industry since 1992 and have been trading in Australia as The Wizard of Auz since 2000.

They combine running their business with raising a family and managing 30 acres of sub-tropical rainforest.

Sean Mahoney

Sean originally trained and worked as a filmmaker in London, England. A lifelong fascination of travel & photography led him to Asia where he stumbled into the gemstone business in 1992 with a small lapis lazuli deal while working as a photographer in Afghanistan.

He was soon cutting gemstones and designing settings in India and established his original market in the UK. He quickly expanded to the US with the San Francisco bay area becoming a hub for his broad range of colourful jewellery. Success in California and the South-West was boosted by the rise of Silicon Valley in the 1990s.

Wendy Mahoney

Wendy trained in beauty & hair-styling in Brisbane, Australia. She worked in the Australian fashion industry until moving to the UK in 1993. In London she studied astrology, and worked as manager of The Astrology Shop in Covent Garden.

Wendy met Sean in 1994 in London when both were preparing to embark on a visit to India to see a total solar eclipse. They became close friends, eventually traveling and living together. They started their relationship in 1997 and moved from London to Glastonbury, England and then to Australia in 1999.

Sean & Wendy established their head office in Australia in 2000 and were married at Harbin Hot Springs, California later that year. In 2002 they bought a 30 acre rainforest property near Mullumbimby in New South Wales, which has become the inspiration and driving force behind their work.

They have two children Ruby-Star and Jet Moon, and a menagerie of pets as well as native flora and fauna which helps keep them on their toes.......
